Beat the heat with some Summer Maintenance

Summer Maintenance Tips in Canton, GA

The weather has warmed up here in Canton, GA, which means we're switching our attention to helping our customers prepare for the common car problems we see when summer hits. Don't worry — changing seasons doesn't mean extensive auto repairs and maintenance, but the team here atCherokee County Toyotadoes have a few tips to keep your car running smoothly all summer long. Enjoy that long-awaited road trip with yourfreshly inspected Toyota!

Air Conditioning

The first step is to inspect your vehicle's air conditioning. Turn it on — even if it takes a few minutes, cold air should flow through the vents. If the A/C doesn't get cool, you hear strange noises issuing from the vents or there's a musky smell filling the cabin, it's time for an A/C inspection at our dealership. You may have a low refrigerant level caused by a leak, which is an issue that you'll want to address quickly due to the extreme heat that's typical here in Georgia. We can repair this leak using a leak sealant or you can do it yourself!

Tire Condition

Your vehicle's tire pressure changes regularly, which is why maintaining the correct pressure can be tricky. Ensure your tires are at the right PSI that's indicated in your owner's manual, and while you're at it, you can inspect the tread for nails or other debris that could be causing a slow leak as well as tread depth. Your tires' tread can be measured with a penny — insert a penny with Lincoln facing you and turned upside down. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, your tread depth is too low, which will require areplacementas soon as possible.

Fluid Levels

Ensuring your vehicle's fluid levels — such as oil, windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, power-steering fluid and coolant — are at the proper level is another important aspect of maintaining your car's health. Coolant is especially important, since it keeps your engine cool and protects it from overheating. Bring your vehicle in for an oil change and we'll check all of your vehicle's levels.

Windshield Wipers

With increased usage over the winter and spring months due to heavy rains and a buildup of pollen, your windshield wipers may not work as they used to. Worn out windshield wipers won't be of any use to you during the summer, so if they aren't effectively cleaning your windshield anymore or they're making loud noises as they pass over the glass, it's time for a replacement.

Cabin Air Filter

The air that circulates your cabin enters through the cabin air filter, so it's a good idea to change the filter regularly in order to keep that air fresh and clean. It's not a difficult part to replace on your own, but the team at Cherokee County Toyota can install a new one during your next oil change. Plus, the parts we use are genuine OEM parts that fit your Toyota specifically, so your Toyota can continue to operate under high standards.

Other Vehicle Issues

Has your Toyota experienced an overheated engine recently? What about a dead battery, squealing brakes or any other problem indicated by the dashboard light? Our recommendation is to bring your Toyota in for service at our service department as soon as possible —scheduling an appointment onlinehas never been easier! Plus, while you're here, we can answer any questions you may have about your vehicle's condition and how to prepare it for all types of weather.
