Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ Explained in Canton, GA

It just wouldn’t be Toyota if it didn’t reestablish itself year after year as a world-class developer in auto safety. The latest enhancements in the innovative, tech-savvy safety system — renamed as Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ — are found in the 2021 Toyota models that we have stocked in our new inventory. Standard in the Camry and Highlander (and their hybrid equivalents), 2.5+ uses the six features and upgrades two key systems in order to supply more processing power and wider functionality to your new Toyota. While exclusive to a limited number of vehicles now, we have a feeling that Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ will become more involved in the full lineup of Toyota models in later years.

2.5+ Enhancements

So what specifically makes 2.5+ better? Two added features built on two pre-existing features: Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Bicyclist Detection joins with the Pre-Collision System (PCS) to create a whole new level of proactive functionality. This new feature can sense an oncoming pedestrian or cyclist in either the daytime or low-light conditions, send audible and visual alerts to the driver and can even apply automatic braking if necessary to prevent a collision.

The second innovative feature is Curve Speed Management, paired with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). Utilizing the yaw sensors (which measures the vehicle’s angular velocity) and cameras to reduce your model’s speed beforehand, the cruise control system will feel more like your natural driving when rounding curves with Curve Speed Management.
