This year, the 2021 Toyota Highlander is changing the way you commute, carpool and road trip. With subtle doses of refinement mixed in with ample capability and convenience, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without this full-size SUV. Its standard third row offers plenty of leg room for passengers (normal or fun size), plus the seats have a fold-flat function with recline for even more comfort and versatility. Those with a busy lifestyle will appreciate the available height-adjustable, hands-free power liftgate and the available Smart Key System during those moments when a hand can’t be spared to unlock the car and open the hatch. And with advanced tech and standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ in the Highlander, you’ll be connected with and protected from the outside world all at once.

But if you’re in the SUV market, perhaps a rival has caught your eye instead. The 2021 Hyundai Palisade is making a splash in the segment, so we’ve compared the two below.

Breaking news: The 2021 Toyota Highlander is just better. While the 2021 Hyundai Palisade may appear to be an attractive alternative to the Highlander, we’re convinced the points above might change your mind. With an available hybrid trim and better EPA-estimated mpg, the Highlander proves itself to be the more eco-friendly (and therefore, more wallet-friendly) option of the two. Both models offer all-wheel drive (we’d be surprised if they didn’t), but only the Highlander has standard Snow Drive, a must-have for those who live where inclement weather is frequent during the winter. Also standard on the Highlander is the tri-zone automatic climate control system, which provides three zones of personalized temperature for your passengers. The Palisade? We hope you like mundane air conditioning.

We could keep going, but we’ll just leave this here as you decide. In the meantime, the 2021 Toyota Highlander will be waiting for your test drive.
